Entrepreneurship Center Director Ted Zoller Selected as Longenecker Fellow by USASBE
Zoller was awarded the fellowship at the Jan. 25 USASBE annual conference.
The United States Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (USASBE) has named Ted Zoller a Justin G. Longenecker Fellow. Zoller, T.W. Lewis Clinical Professor of Strategy and Entrepreneurship at UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School and director of the Kenan Institute-affiliated Entrepreneurship Center, was inducted into the fellowship on Jan. 25 at the USASBE’s annual conference in St. Petersburg, Florida.
Selection as a Longenecker Fellow is the highest recognition that the USASBE bestows on individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to the development, furtherance and benefit of small and medium businesses. Since 1986, more than 65 distinguished educators, researchers, government officials, small business advocates and trade association leaders have been selected as USASBE Fellows.
Zoller has a deep background in entrepreneurship. In addition to his teaching and directorship work, he is a senior fellow at the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, engaged in core strategies of the foundation in the area of entrepreneurship. He is a past president of USASBE, and also served as a vice president of finance for the organization.
Zoller has received numerous teaching awards, including UNC Kenan-Flagler’s highest honor, the Roy W. Holsten Award for service to the school. He is the innovator behind the Learn-Launch-Lead pedagogical framework, which has been instituted in such novel programs as the Startup-UNC venture development curricula, the Launch Chapel Hill Accelerator, the Adams Apprenticeship and the BLUE Live-Learn Entrepreneurship Community.
About his latest honor, Zoller said, “I’m gratified by the recognition of my work by USASBE, but I’m more gratified to see my students realize their potential as transformative entrepreneurs.” He added that “UNC is emerging to be a national powerhouse in entrepreneurship. I see my role as both teacher and coach to the best entrepreneurial talent at the university.”
USASBE is a community of teachers, scholars, program directors and practitioners focused on advancing entrepreneurship education. USASBE Fellows are a select group of distinguished educators, researchers, government executives, small business advocates and trade association leaders.
“Dr. Zoller’s years of service to the discipline and this organization, his passion for teaching nascent entrepreneurs and his innovative research focused on better understanding the practice of entrepreneurship exemplifies the excellence that selection as a Justin Longenecker Fellow recognizes,” said Rebecca White, director of the John P. Lowth Entrepreneurship Center at the Sykes College of Business and USASBE selection committee member.
