I was born in Hingham, MA, a small town a few miles south of Boston. I earned my B.A. in Political Science from the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, MA, spending my junior year abroad studying Politics, Philosophy, and Economics at Mansfield College, University of Oxford. Upon graduating, I headed back to England, where I earned a M.A. in Intelligence and International Security from King’s College London.
I wanted to use my education and experience to give back to my community and country, and so I returned home to join the Defense Intelligence Agency – the intelligence wing of the Department of Defense – as an Intelligence Officer. For the next four years, I was stationed at U.S. Central Command in Tampa, FL, where I specialized in strategic research and analysis of geopolitical and terrorism issues in the Middle East. I spent the first half of 2013 deployed to Baghdad as the senior in-country Defense Department analyst for threats and warning. In these roles, leading and working beside members of the U.S. military, I learned how important collaboration, strong leadership, and excellent communication are to the success of the team.
While working on high-visibility policy issues and traveling throughout the Middle East, I developed a clearer vision of the global impact I hoped to make in my career. At the same time, my work team had transformed itself into a mini-consultancy for the Intelligence Director on his most challenging analysis, planning, and operations needs. These developments prompted me to return to school. Armed with significant communication, collaborative, and analytical attributes, I chose to attend UNC Kenan-Flagler to grow my core business and leadership skills to pursue a career in internal strategy or management consulting.
Interests and Hobbies
In and among classes and company presentations, I love to run and cycle. I am an avid triathlete and hockey player. I am a fan of all Boston sports, particularly the Bruins and Patriots. When I’m not cheering on my Holy Cross Crusaders, I’ve adopted the Tar Heels as my go-to for college sports. I love to read, particularly about military history, leadership development, or any Calvin and Hobbes book. I also try to contribute to the UNC Kenan-Flagler MBA community, serving as a First Year Legacy Representative and Education Liaison for the Consulting Club.
