MacKenzie Babb

Director of External Affairs, Kenan Institute of Private Enterprise

As external affairs director, MacKenzie Babb heads all marketing and communications efforts for the Kenan Institute including strategic planning, events, media relations and branding.

She brings to the institute a decade of working at the intersection of strategic communications and policy for the nonprofit, public and private sectors in Washington, D.C. Most recently, Babb was deputy chief of global public affairs and corporate communications at Porter Novelli. Prior to that, she served as communications director for the Trust for the National Mall, the official nonprofit partner of National Park Service. Her background also includes several years spent within the federal government, first as the Voice of America’s Charles Kuralt Fellow in International Broadcast and later as a reporter with the U.S. State Department.

Babb graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a B.A. with highest honors in journalism and mass communication and a minor in creative writing.
