Economic Strategist, Kenan Institute of Private Enterprise
Brent Lane is Kenan Institute Fellow of Economic Strategy at the University of North Carolina Kenan-Flagler Business School. Prior to joining UNC in 2004 his professional life bridged the worlds of venture capital, R&D commercialization and entrepreneurial development. He draws on scholarly business research to design capital market solutions to global challenges. To accomplish this he has pioneered research techniques to identify global growth firms and design investment strategies capitalizing on emergent industry opportunities. He also works with international organizations on sustainable business development strategies that preserve sensitive natural and cultural World Heritage sites while enhancing their value to regional economies and benefiting local peoples. He holds graduate degrees in science policy and business administration and undergraduate degrees in both physical and social sciences.
