Kenan Institute of Private Enterprise to Host Annual Open House
Chapel Hill, N.C. (August 28, 2017) – The Frank Hawkins Kenan Institute of Private Enterprise will host its Annual Open House Thursday, September 7, during which the newly re-envisioned business policy think tank and its affiliated centers will educate and engage with the UNC-Chapel Hill community and beyond.
The nonpartisan institute, which is run through the UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School, convenes thought leaders and influencers from across the academy as well as the public and private sectors to research, develop and implement business policies and practices that benefit the public good.
“This is a great time for folks to join us in working to craft practical solutions to today’s most pressing economic challenges,” said Dr. Gregory W. Brown, director of the Kenan Institute. “Given the range and breadth of our focus areas, I think there’ll be something of interest for everyone at the Annual Open House.”
Brown, who took on the institute’s top leadership role in September 2015, has steered the nonprofit’s work back to its founding mission of pursuing opportunities and addressing challenges related to entrepreneurship, economic development and global commerce. In doing so, he has also led efforts to expand the institute’s public engagement – including through the institute’s Annual Open House.
Featured during this year’s program will be each of Kenan Institute’s affiliated centers, including the Center for Competitive Economies; Center for Digital Enterprise and Innovation; Center for Entrepreneurial Studies; Center for Sustainable Enterprise; Energy Center; Family Enterprise Center; Institute for Private Capital; Leonard W. Wood Center for Real Estate Studies; NCGrowth; UNC Tax Center; and the Urban Investment Strategies Center.
The event is open to the public and the press, and will take place Thursday, September 7, from 4:30-6:30 p.m. on the first floor of the Kenan Center in Chapel Hill.
