Kenan Institute Research Fellowship

The Frank Hawkins Kenan Institute of Private Enterprise Research Fellowship is an opportunity for advanced doctoral students, post docs, and early career faculty researching the topics of entrepreneurship, economic development, or global competitiveness. This Fellowship seeks to encourage cutting edge research collaborations with the Kenan Institute’s thought leaders.

Several fellows will be selected in the spring of 2016 for a one-year term during the 2016-2017 academic year. The selected Fellow will receive a $15,000 research fellowship or support for one course buyout (up to $20,000). Funds can be used for a wide variety of purposes including stipend support, research needs, conference travel, etc., contingent on home department guidelines and University policy. During the fellowship year, the selected Fellow will be required to write one or more articles based on the supported research collaboration. At least one article should target publication in top peer-reviewed journal. (In some cases fellows may be asked to synthesize their work for a related article targeting a general audience.) Outputs in support of engaged scholarship may also be considered. Fellows will be strongly encouraged to present their research at relevant conferences and to participate in Kenan Institute events.
